Introduction
PVC clear film is a thin, transparent material made from polyvinyl chloride (PVC), recognized for its excellent clarity and versatility. With light transmittance typically exceeding 85%, it ensures high visibility of underlying objects. The film strikes a balance between flexibility and rigidity, providing resistance to tearing, punctures, and abrasions. These attributes make it especially valuable in industries like packaging, where it protects products from dust, moisture, and contamination while maintaining clear visibility. In construction and automotive applications, PVC clear film is used for protective sheeting, window films, and signage, where both durability and clarity are essential.
Features
High Clarity and Visibility
PVC clear film typically offers light transmittance above 85%, providing excellent clarity and allowing clear visibility of the underlying surfaces or products. This high transparency makes it particularly suitable for applications such as packaging, display windows, and protective coverings.
Waterproof and Moisture-Resistant
PVC clear film's water and moisture resistance comes from its dense, non-porous structure, which effectively prevents water and moisture from penetrating the surface. Unlike many other materials that can absorb moisture, PVC clear film forms an impermeable barrier, maintaining the integrity of the items it protects. Compared to other clear films, PVC clear film's moisture resistance is typically 30-40% more effective, making it a superior choice for environments where exposure to water or humidity is a concern.
UV Protection and Durability
PVC clear film contains UV stabilizers that significantly reduce the effects of prolonged sunlight exposure. These stabilizers absorb harmful UV rays, preventing the breakdown of the polymer structure and reducing the risk of yellowing and brittleness over time. In applications such as signage, construction sheeting, and vehicle covers, PVC clear film can last up to 30% longer than non-UV stabilized films.
Flexible and Customizable
PVC clear film is highly flexible, easily molded, cut, or heat-sealed to meet specific needs across a variety of industries. Whether for packaging, automotive, construction, or signage, its adaptability allows for diverse uses and custom shapes, enhancing its functionality and application scope.
Production process
1. The production of PVC clear film starts with the polymerization of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) through suspension or emulsion polymerization, producing a powdery resin. This resin is then mixed with additives such as stabilizers, plasticizers, lubricants, and UV inhibitors to enhance flexibility, transparency, and overall performance.
2. Next, the compounded PVC mixture is fed into an extruder, where it is melted and forced through a flat die to form a continuous sheet of film. In some cases, the film is passed through heated rollers in a process called calendering to achieve uniform thickness and improved optical properties. After cooling, the film undergoes surface treatment, such as corona or flame treatment, to improve adhesion for coatings or adhesives.
3. Finally, the film is slitted into rolls of the desired width. These rolls go through quality control checks, including visual inspections, thickness measurements, and UV resistance tests, to ensure the final product meets the required standards for clarity, durability, and performance before being packaged for shipment.
